CRIME LAB EQUIPMENT
Crime labs need specialized equipment and workspaces that support accurate testing, secure evidence handling, and efficient workflows. H2I Group provides crime lab equipment, forensic lab furniture, and installation services to help clients create functional spaces for forensic science work.
As a specialty subcontractor, H2I Group works alongside architects, lab planners, general contractors, construction managers, and facility owners. Our team can assist with equipment planning and coordination from early project stages through installation and project closeout.
CRIME LAB EQUIPMENT AND FORENSIC LAB FURNITURE
Different forensic disciplines require different equipment. DNA and biology, toxicology, trace evidence, latent print, and other areas may rely on specialized analytical instruments and tools. For example, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography can separate compounds for further analysis, while Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy can help identify unknown materials. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplifies small amounts of DNA for analysis, and Alternative Light Sources (ALS) can help reveal latent fingerprints and other evidence that may be difficult to see under normal lighting. Microscopes and other imaging systems also support the examination of physical and trace evidence.
The equipment and infrastructure surrounding these instruments are just as important to an effective forensic laboratory. H2I Group’s laboratory solutions include laboratory casework, countertops, flexible bench systems, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, mobile carts and tables, and specialized storage. Other available laboratory equipment includes refrigerators and freezers, glassware washers, laminar flow hoods, pass-through cabinets, water purification systems, sterilizers, and autoclaves.
Forensic lab furniture and equipment should be selected around how each space will be used. Durable work surfaces, appropriate containment, accessible storage, and flexible layouts can help laboratories support daily workflows while preparing for future needs.

CHOOSING EQUIPMENT FOR DIFFERENT FORENSIC DISCIPLINES
There isn’t one standard equipment package for every crime lab. Equipment selection should start with the types of evidence being processed, the testing performed in each area, and the needs of the people using the space.
Planning should account for available room and bench space, utilities, ventilation, storage, and equipment footprints. Teams should also consider contamination control and evidence integrity when determining where equipment, workstations, and storage will be located. Modular furniture and flexible bench systems may provide additional adaptability as technology or laboratory needs change.
PLANNING AND INSTALLING CRIME LAB EQUIPMENT
Crime lab equipment should be considered early in new construction and renovation projects. Effective forensic lab design requires project teams to understand equipment needs early so the space can account for workflow, equipment footprints, utilities, ventilation, storage, and other requirements. H2I Group works alongside architects and lab planners during this process rather than replacing their design role.
H2I Group can support project teams with design assist, estimating and budgeting, scheduling, BIM capabilities, project management, and laboratory equipment installation. Early coordination can help architects, lab planners, contractors, and end users account for equipment placement and facility requirements before installation begins.
This approach also reduces the need for clients to coordinate every piece of forensic lab equipment and furniture independently. H2I Group works with established manufacturing partners to bring specialized solutions together as part of a coordinated laboratory project.
WHY PARTNER WITH H2I GROUP FOR CRIME LAB EQUIPMENT?
H2I Group has served clients since 1924 and has completed more than 50,000 projects across several markets. As a 100% employee-owned company, H2I Group focuses on collaboration, accountability, and long-term relationships with clients and project partners.
Our involvement can extend beyond product selection and installation. Depending on the project and region, H2I Group can provide pre-construction support, Design assist, project management, closeout and warranty coordination, and ongoing service and maintenance.

How Much Is a Turf Field? Cost Guide
If you are planning a new athletic facility or replacing an aging field, one of your first questions may be, “How much is a turf field?” A full-sized synthetic sports field can cost about $700,000 to $2.5 million, but that broad range is only a starting point. Field size, site conditions, drainage, turf quality, labor, and added equipment all shape the final price.
