8 K-12 and Campus Projects for Back-to-School Season
It’s back to school season! Students return to classrooms, athletes get back in the gym, and researchers get back to the bench. Behind those spaces is specialty construction that has to hold up to daily use. H2I Group provides laboratory, athletic, technical education, and STEM environments for schools and universities across the country. These eight projects span K-12 gyms, collegiate research buildings, and full athletic complexes, and each one shares a focus on durability, safety, and long-term performance.
1. Arrupe Jesuit High School - Denver, Colorado
H2I Group worked with Haselden Construction and MOA Architecture on a multi-phase expansion and renovation at Arrupe Jesuit High School. Phase one added a new building with a gymnasium, science classrooms, and a new entrance. Phase two renovated existing classrooms and added a second floor inside the original gym. Across both phases, H2I Group supplied and self-performed the installation of architectural woodwork and casework, laboratory furniture and equipment, gym equipment, bleachers, and lockers.
2. St. Andrew's Episcopal School - Austin, Texas
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School reopened its gym after a full athletic upgrade built with Harvey Builders and LPA. H2I Group provided Porter basketball backstops, firesafe wall pads, and a divider curtain, along with Sports Imports volleyball systems and Interkal telescopic bleachers. The new bleachers add seating capacity and improve safety for games and assemblies. Durable finishes and clear sightlines give the space a bright, open layout. The gym now supports practices, physical education, and multi-court competition.
3. LSU Interdisciplinary Science Building - Baton Rouge, Louisiana
The Interdisciplinary Science Building brings multiple science disciplines together for LSU’s College of Science. It combines instructional and research laboratories, shared instrumentation areas, and faculty research suites, so departments can share specialized equipment instead of duplicating it. H2I Group furnished and installed laboratory casework, chemical-resistant work surfaces, fume hoods, fixtures, and specialty equipment, coordinating with the architect, lab planner, and engineers so each lab met its users’ requirements. Infrastructure was planned for flexibility, so spaces can be reconfigured as research programs change. The finished labs support biology, chemistry, geology and geophysics, physics, and interdisciplinary research.
4. University of St. Thomas Lee & Penny Anderson Arena - Saint Paul, Minnesota
At the new Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, H2I Group designed and installed two dedicated basketball practice gyms for the University of St. Thomas, one for the men’s program and one for the women’s. The two courts total 16,380 square feet of premium maple hardwood. H2I Group installed the Robbins Sports Surfaces UniMax 100 floor system, an engineered sports floor built for the demands of collegiate training. It delivers the ball response, shock absorption, and surface consistency that practice at that level requires.
5. Madison Area Technical College - Madison, Wisconsin
H2I Group’s Tech-Ed Division worked with Madison Area Technical College to expand its Mechanical Design Program with industry-standard equipment for hands-on learning and rapid prototyping. H2I Group supplied multiple Stratasys 3D printers, a Universal Laser Systems PLS6.75 laser cutter and engraver, a Roland GS-24 vinyl cutter, and a Bofa filtered fume extraction system. The machines give students direct experience on the tools used in professional design and manufacturing. That setup lets them conceptualize, design, and solve real-world problems in the classroom.
6.Innovation High School - Orlando, Florida
H2I Group turned the site at Innovation High School into a full multi-sport athletic complex. The team graded and irrigated the football, baseball, softball, and soccer fields, laser graded each one, and finished them with more than 400,000 square feet of Celebration sod, plus infield clay and warning track material for baseball and softball. H2I Group also built a full running track along with four tennis courts and two basketball courts from grade, each with base aggregate, asphalt, and a finished surface. The scope included scoreboards for football, baseball, and softball, plus indoor basketball goals, a divider curtain, and additional scoreboards.
7. R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary - Concord, North Carolina-
H2I Group partnered with Rodgers Builders to deliver the gymnasium for the new R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary, a modern school that replaced the previous facility through a public bid. H2I Group provided Forum Athletic Products basketball backstops, Daktronics scoreboards, and RSL Kodiak telescoping bleachers. The finished gym pairs clean lines and bright color accents with a flexible seating layout. Every system was installed for safe, long-term use. It gives the school one space for daily activities, assemblies, and athletic events.
8. University of Delaware Building X - Newark, Delaware
Building X is a 132,500-square-foot research facility that replaced the former McKinly Hall at the University of Delaware, built with HGA and Whiting-Turner. Part of the College of Arts and Sciences, it holds three above-ground floors, a mechanical penthouse, and a full basement dedicated to physics labs, and it connects to the Life Sciences Research Building by bridge. The building supports 48 research scientists across physics, biology, and psychology, and serves more than 1,000 students a year in four teaching labs. H2I Group provided laboratory casework, benches, and fume hoods for the research and teaching spaces.

These eight projects show the range of work H2I Group takes on for schools and universities, from elementary gyms to collegiate research and tech-ed labs. Each one had to be ready for students, athletes, and researchers on day one. As a new school year starts, they show how specialized construction supports learning, competition, and discovery.
